Yes. Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage site, first inscribed in 1994 and extended to the Cat Ba archipelago in 2023, with thousands of limestone islands, caves and floating villages. A cruise is the best way to see it. Start with our Halong Bay travel guide.
October to December is best: dry, sunny and clear. April and May are warm and green. June to September is hot, wet and the main storm season, and February–March are often misty. See best time to visit Halong Bay.

An overnight cruise gives you about 22 hours on the water, with sunset and sunrise; a day cruise gives 4–5 hours for the same 5-hour round-trip drive. Read Halong Bay day cruise vs overnight cruise.
Book 4–8 weeks ahead for October to April, and earlier for Tet, 30 April–1 May and Christmas. Outside peak dates a few days' notice is often enough. See the most popular top Halong Bay cruises.
You need a valid entry permit for Vietnam. Citizens of several European countries, Japan and South Korea can enter visa-free for up to 45 days; most other travellers apply online for an e-visa valid up to 90 days. Our team can advise on your nationality.
