What Makes The Pearl Dragon Cruise Different
The Pearl Dragon Cruise stands out for what happens on board rather than for suite size: a real swimming pool on the sundeck, a daily wellness programme and Vietnamese heritage activities that are included in the fare.
A swimming pool and dinner on the sundeck
The sundeck holds a swimming pool with open views of the karst islands, used from mid-afternoon at the overnight anchorage. In the evening, dinner moves up here under hundreds of Hoi An-style lanterns whenever the weather and the number of guests allow – every night except in February and March.
Wellness and heritage built into the fare
Mornings start with herbal detox drinks made to a Yin and Yang principle, sunrise watching and a choice of the “Fountain of Youth” yoga class or a Tai Chi lesson. Ngoc Linh ginseng tea is served from 1 December 2026, a Dong Ho folk-painting class runs from 15 December 2026, and moon meditation is held on the 15th day of each lunar month from March 2027.

A two-bay route into Lan Ha Bay
The cruise crosses from Halong Bay into Lan Ha Bay at Dark and Bright Cave in the Van Ta area, the natural border between the two bays, where local rowers take guests through by bamboo boat. The ship anchors overnight in Lan Ha Bay, and kayaking and swimming the next morning take place in the Tra Bau area.
Who The Pearl Dragon Cruise Is Best For
Book it if you are
- A couple or honeymooners who want a balcony and a bathtub – the Dragón Suite has a private bow terrace.
- A family of four – the 60 m² Family Suite has two bedrooms, and one child under 5 per couple sharing with parents travels free.
- Interested in wellness – yoga, Tai Chi, detox drinks and herbal treatments set the daily rhythm.
- Looking for a pool on board – the sundeck pool is a real swimming pool, not a small plunge tub.
Choose another cruise if you want
- Certified halal food – the ship is not halal-certified; compare our halal-certified Halong Bay cruises.
- A bathtub in every suite – here only the Dragón, Family and first-deck Phoenix suites have one.
- The classic Halong Bay caves such as Sung Sot – this route visits Dark and Bright Cave and Lan Ha Bay instead; browse other Halong Bay luxury cruises.

Local Expert Notes from Our Hanoi Team
These tips come from more than a decade of arranging Halong Bay trips for international travellers; ship details are checked against The Pearl Vietnam’s published information and 2026–2027 contract rates.
- For the best views, book a Dragón Suite: the bow terrace looks forward over the bay rather than to the side.
- In February and March dinner is served in the restaurant rather than on the sundeck.
- Only the first-deck Phoenix Suites have a bathtub; the third-deck Phoenix Suites have a shower.
- Wi-Fi is weak among the karst islands, so plan any work calls before you sail. Bring your passport for check-in.
